Paypal
"I really like using Paypal. It makes it easier and faster to buy things from websites I don't usually use and it makes me feel like my information is more protected," Sarah Hemenway said.
Venmo
"My friends and I use Venmo all least a few times a week. It makes it so much easier to do something like going through a drive through when you can quickly repay your friends without worrying about it," Kate Karman said.
Apple Pay
"Apple Pay is super convient online and in stores, espeically if I do something like forget my purse or card, I still usually have my phone on me," Jamison Lewis said.
S
ociety is trying to go cashless, and wallets are easily forgotten at home by some. Cashapp and Venmo have been useful to some of the students here at LNHS. Others have been using services like Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay. So when students are going places, and happen to be forgetful, a phone is all someone will need to make a purchase in some places. "Venmo is an online form of payment for pretty much anything. You just make an account in the app you can download on your phone and you can pay anyone for anything," senior Emma Eagleman said. Apple Pay is only able to be used by Iphone users but others can use Google Pay or if someone has a Samsung, they can use Samsung Pay. "When I leave my money or card at home, I have Apple Pay set up in my phone as a backup because it works at a lot of places that I go to like Starbucks," sophomore Alicia Wenger said. Apple pay is often compatible with payment machines at business that make life earlier for some with paying by tapping your phone. Samsung and Google pay work similarly. "I don't like carrying around my wallet because I'm afraid that I will leave it somewhere so I like to use Google Pay," sophomore Avery George said. Google Pay and Apple Pay are the same concept but you can use Google Pay on almost all platforms. "Let's say your friend bought you lunch and you want to pay them back, you can send them the amount of your lunch through Venmo," Eagleman said. Quite a bit of the devices that accept Apple Pay also accept Google Pay. Venmo is used often between parents and their kids. "When I babysit my brother for my mom, she likes to use Venmo to pay me instead of having to carry cash around," sophomore Tatum Goerke said. Venmo also has the unique aspect of being able to see what people are sending other people money for if the sender chooses to make their account public. "My mom uses the funny stickers when sending me money and it is just something that gives me a bit of a laugh," Goerke said. Venmo is used sometimes by family and friends for daily things that they might need money for. "I like being able to see how funny my friends and family are when they send money to each other," Eagleman said. Venmo is also being used to try to limit the spread of COVID 19 by not getting in contact with family or friends to share cash. Instead, they share money through the app. "My grandparents on my mom's side like to use Venmo to give me birthday or Christmas money so that I don't have to get in close contact with them," Wenger said.
